Privacy Policy

Who operates this site

AlbumGuessr (albumguessr.com) is an independently run, free music guessing game. For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at albumguessr@gmail.com, or use the Report a Bug page.

Data we collect

• Account data — if you log in, our authentication provider (Auth0) shares your email address and name with us so we can identify your account.
• Gameplay data — if you're logged in, we store your guesses, wins, and statistics in our database so you can see your history and rankings.
• Usage data — we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, approximate location, device type). IP addresses are anonymized.
• Search queries — album/artist searches are sent to Algolia (our search provider) using a search-only key; this does not include any personal information.
• Bug reports — if you submit the bug report form, your message and email are sent to us via EmailJS so we can follow up.

Cookies and advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

• Essential functionality — keeping you logged in and remembering your language preference.
• Analytics — Google Analytics, to measure traffic and improve the game.
• Advertising — we display ads through Google AdSense to help cover hosting costs. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads and measure their performance, which may include personalized advertising based on your activity on this and other sites.

If you're located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies before any personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's cookies for this site, which will show the banner again.

You can also manage how Google personalizes ads across the web at adssettings.google.com, and learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

• Neon — database (gameplay history, rankings)
• Auth0 — login / authentication
• Algolia — album/artist search

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their own privacy and data-protection safeguards.
